Coming In Hot

Coming In Hot

Annie & Trevor's wedding is one of our work that we keep coming back to for reference. In short, they serve as recurring inspiration for other work. Considering it was done under challenging weather conditions, the results speak volumes about our aesthetics.

It was on a bright summer day when Annie and Trevor had their nuptials on a picturesque farm in Glenaroua. The weather hovered around a blazing 41 - 43 Celcius for a good part of the day. We had bucket hats, bottles of water, and sunscreen slopped all over the back of our necks. All ready for the day.

It's amazing to see how fast our body can adjust to extreme conditions. In no time we barely even feel the heat anymore. Guess it also helped that everyone we saw there were so nice, and the fact I kept dabbing cold water across my chest and neck for the whole day.

Going hot never looked this good.

The Perfect Icebreaker

The Perfect Icebreaker

Icebreaker, the New Zealand-based apparel maker launched their new collection, TABI. We recently worked with them to create imagery for the collection.

As Icebreaker puts it, TABI's design is inspired by minimal lines and subtle features to maximise the wearer's comfort.

We decided to complement TABI's minimalist designs with some spring florals for our shoot. Needless to say, the results were fabulous. See for yourself.

Shouts to Ailene Wu for her A game in front of the camera.

Sentimental Outdoor Vibes

Sentimental Outdoor Vibes

More times than not, our best ideas don't come out to work. Rather, they come out to play. We wanted to create a mood piece that would bring out that sentimental feels. We didn't plan on set storyboards etc. What we planned on was having a great time - and we did.

Kudos to Alice Whitfield for being flawless in front of the camera. Beautiful music is Down For You ft. Alina Baraz by Ta-ku.

Also some images to complete the set.

Shoot Concept: Adidas NMD PK R2

Every now and then we work with Adidas Originals to celebrate the release of their sneakers. This particular shoot was for the Adidas NMD drop.

The NMD has a sleek and modern feel to its silhouette, and we wanted to capture a more raw and gritty look to complement the sneakers. So the first thing we did was to find a location with a strong urban feel, and immediately thought of an 'under the bridge' setting. We found just the spot within Melbourne CBD. Next, we looked for a model with a good sense of street style that would complete the picture and went with Kwabee Otuo.

Here's what we came back with.

THE DAYS ARE LONG BUT THE YEARS ARE SHORT

Throwback to the beautiful wedding of Kharisma & Ade we shot last spring in Stones of the Yarra Valley. Good vibes, good weather, and can't forget the hay allergies.

Hard to believe it's been a year, it feels like it was only yesterday.

The days are long but the years are short. I miss yesteryear.

A Good day to Graduate

A Good day to Graduate

The grounds of Melbourne University campus was covered with colourful foliages. As I walk the campus, I found myself thinking that I'm about to do something I've never done before - take graduation photos. This type of photography is not something I normally do.

Although I'm very used to shooting weddings and lifestyle contents, I wondered before the shoot: what moments and scenes in a graduation should I look out for?

In the end the best photos are ones that capture real emotions, so that's exactly what I looked out for that day.

Japan

Japan

Earlier this year I prepped for a Japan trip to see Jamiroquai in concert. I was quite a fanboy of the band back in the days and last time I saw them live was on their 2005 Melbourne concert. Both concert and flight tickets to Japan were sorted.

Only the night before my flight did I learn the concert was cancelled due to the lead singer's health problems. By that time I was all packed up, hyped up for a concert with no concert to rock up to.

I wasn't as bummed as I thought I'd be with the concert being cancelled. If my excitement about the trip was a solid 10 with the concert happening, it only fell to 9.2 when I found out about the cancellation. No biggie.

So to Japan I went.

The trip itself was short - 11 days. But it turned out to be my most eventful solo trip just yet. When looking through the photos, I feel that I could've taken more photos of my interactions with the cities and people I met.

Then again, some of the best moments are just meant to be enjoyed in real life, instead of through the lens.

Cosying at the Cliffs

Cosying at the Cliffs

Random road trips, they're one my favourite pastimes.

My last trip brought me to Flinders, a beautiful coastal area just out of Melbourne.

I arrived with just enough time to wander around the area before sunset, really wish I'd took more shots of my surroundings there. I notice another photographer doing a family portrait session with a young family of four.

The fresh sea breeze, warm sun, amazing sceneries - I secretly wish I was that photographer doing the family session, they seem to be having such a great time.

Wish I lived on a coast like this.
